If your Mother is Eliane Elias and your Father is Randy Brecker, it's pretty much assured that you've inherited a gene pool that's twice as cool :) AND there is bound to be musical talent that surfaces. With Amanda Brecker, that was early in her young life. At five. Melody and song came easily to the beautiful daughter of legends.
At age eight, Amanda made her Mom cry with a rendition of a Milton Nascimento song - and it was clear that a little girl would someday ignite her own stages. That time is now.
After having multiple success stories in Japan with her previous two releases ("Here I Am" and "Brazilian Passion"), Amanda Brecker finally has seen her debut in the States happen via "Blossom."
This new CD is a tribute to both Carole King and James Taylor - Amanda sings a collection of their songs with the joy of youth and heartfelt emotion. She includes an original and something else that is included will make you smile: musicians and legends themselves who Carole and James know well - and you will, too. The ageless Leland Sklar on bass and drummer Russ Kunkel. Award-winning singer/songwriter Jesse Harris produced this project - and was able to cleverly deliver a hybrid of musical paint that sounds like Spring. Like Amanda Brecker :)
Before she plays Birdland in New York City on Thursday, March 14th, Amanda joins us on the show. We have to let her go early - at 1:30 Eastern time - but we'll have enough of a chance to discover where she has been and where she intends to go. I'm thinking the sky - but that may be limited...
We're keeping our guest for thirty minutes, then she must get ready for her huge event. Following Amanda, another guest may join us. We just received word Wednesday - and will keep it as a semi-surprise!
