New York City born Jonathan Kreisberg is one of those talents that take your breath away. Our sublime guitarist was raised in a house where every kind of music was playing - from Coltrane to Cream to Classical. And the improvisation of the best stayed in his head.
At ten, he was on guitar and became proficient quickly. At 16, he was attending the New World School of the Arts...in his teens, he was recognized by Guitar Player Magazine and Down Beat.
A scholarship to the University of Miami provided the opportunity to gravitate to the Concert Jazz Band there - where he held down the "guitar chair."
Post graduation, he moved closer to his Jazz passion while also performing in the New World Symphony and in the Progressive Rock group, Third Wish.
Jonathan's first trio formed in Miami, electric based and full of energy. The Jonathan Kreisberg Trio toured the East Coast and opened for George Benson and Steve Morse.
In 1997, he returned to his birthplace to soak up the soul of Jazz and found work with some of the most seasoned and respected veterans in the business. Jane Monheit, Lenny White and Dr. Lonnie Smith - who just played the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival with our guest by his side.
As leader, Jonathan has recorded multiple CDS - but none as important as the just-released, "One." Just an artist consumed with improv and passion, with his guitar. No overdubs, loops or extra tracks. You'll be astounded to hear Baden Powell, Gershwin, and Leonard Cohen anew....and you'll hear original tracks as well. To say that bliss is near is an understatement :-D Join us on February 21st - Jonathan kicks off the show at one p.m. Eastern.
