Call in to speak with the host
When one is raised in the vineyard region of France, one is bound to "hear" Jazz in a different way. That's the beauty of this show - to introduce those various interpretations of how Jazz is heard.
I love that I have known the gifted contemporary guitarist, Daniel Domenge, for a few years now. His debut album, "Patchwork", did exceptionally well when it was released in 2008. And there have been some worn grooves on that CD - and I take responsibility for wearing them out!
Now, let us clarify: Daniel may have had his first project just a few years ago - but he has been working and honing his skills for years. Not only on French stages, but also via writing arrangements and recording jingles for local and national radio stations. He has a home studio that produced that lush sound that you hear on "Patchwork" - and he kept a key element of that debut's success on his new work, "...Lost In My Thoughts."
Reynald Evrard is not only the drums and percussion artist on Daniel's latest, but he also recorded and mixed the tracks. And the result is pure joy; what appears to be a solemn promise by way of CD cover is actually a window into the soul of serene contemplation and more than a bit of nostalgia - heard and translated through the ears/fingers of a world class artist. Whose inspirations, by the way, clearly demonstrate why Daniel is so amazing. Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, George Benson and Pat Martino will do that to you!
And speaking of translation...bear with us as we attempt to communicate on the 2/19/2013 show. My friend from Languedoc-Roussillon is a tad apprehensive about how well he will understand your host. I'm "cheating" by looking at my son's college French books - this should be interesting!
Our show starts at one p.m. Eastern with Daniel. www.danieldomenge.com
