When Emmanuel "U-Nam" Abiteboul burst onto the scene in 2005, many in Contemporary Jazz were floored.  Solar Radio UK exploded the airwaves with "The Past Builds the Future" - and it reached to the top of their charts.

Paris-born guitar virtuoso, U-Nam, had been groomed for this moment for a long time.  He was playing at 12, and attended the first European School for Jazz from 1986 until 1989.  At 19, he was heavily involved in studio session work, but his sights were set in that work - and more - in the States.

In 2007, he made his move - the same year that "Back From the 80's" was released.  The incredibly strong single, "Street Life", was # 1 for a long time on Billboard - and the buzz continued about the electric guitar that brought new meaning to a treasured Crusaders song.

Cooking with new gas, U-Nam became involved with Ibanez Guitars.  And the manufacturer was so enthralled that the company placed the new "representative" in its next catalogue - a two-page spread that also featured George Benson, Pat Metheny, and John Scofield.

The momentum continued with 2009's "Unanimity" - by this time, the praise was pouring in for our guest.  Having witnessed what he could do during performances at International Festivals - plus the Gold and Multi-Platinum records that accumulated because of his production expertise - the sky was beginning to become limitless.

Now, it's a new ball game with the anticipated "U-Nam and Friends: Weekend in L.A. (A Tribute to George Benson)."  The first single, "Shiver", features Paul Jackson, Jr. and Tim "Tio" Owens.  Scintillating is the word that comes to mind - and you'll be adding your own adjectives when U-Nam joins us on 8/28/12.  It's the World Premiere - join us!
