Brigitte Zarie has had quite a 2012 -  the year has had a profound affect on her.  Having been aware of this sublimely talented and stunningly beautiful artist for some time, I am keenly cognizant of the power that she possesses.  And how strongly she feels about life - and all that it has to offer - or takes away.

If I speak cryptically, it's because just BEING Brigitte is somewhat a mystery.  Her background lends itself to that thought.  Her parents are from Casablanca, Morocco, and they raised their large (10 children!) in Toronto, Canada.  Dad: a multi-instrumentalist who loves Jazz.  Mom: a singer.  Together, they provided the backdrop for Brigitte's desire to become involved in music.  Her brother contributed to that wish, when he would insist on his sister singing along to his guitar.  So, Brigitte would make up songs - she started early!

There's a great story that our guest tells about a family trip to Buffalo, New York - in their van.  Brigitte recalls hearing Bebop in the still of the night - it was coming from a nightclub across the street from where the family was sleeping.  She made up her mind then that this would be her life: Jazz and all that it had to offer.

When you hear "Make Room for Me", you'll understand how wise that decision was.  Brigitte is a rare vocalist, a throwback to greatness - with a sweet and sassy, honest and vulnerable way around a song.  it's a pleasure to be able to spend time with the toast of New York, where she shines - ask the myriad of musicians who have shared the stage with her!

In the process of finishing up her new CD, we're catching the wondrous Ms. Zarie at the correct time - before she starts the avalanche of press and tours!

Join us at 1 p.m. for music on Tuesday - Brigitte stops by at 2 p.m. Eastern time.
