Call in to speak with the host
It wasn't enough for tiny Paula to become proficient on flute and vocals at the age of 9 - she was determined to learn how to play the saxophone well, too.
What a smart move for this beautiful, New York based artist. It has been a sweet journey - touring internationally, playing/opening for or working with Patti Austin, Najee, Michael Bolton, Tito Puente, Hank Jones, and both Bill and Hillary Clinton!
Paula has truly performed with a lot of inspirational artists, who in turn are inspired by PAULA.! Her debut CD, "Let Me Inside Your Love", elicited excitement - so much so that one of the tracks was featured on another project called "Ladies of Jazz." On that album: Natalie Cole, Eliane Elias, and Candy Dulfer.
Paula's sophomore effort, "Groove With Me", hit the charts in 2009 - and she hasn't caught her breath since! As well as enjoying the praise regarding her musical efforts by way of CD, our guest has found success with her writing, her band leadership (Lifetime TV's "Girls' Night Out") and her scoring (independent film, "The Definition of Insanity!")
Now, "Enjoy the Ride" is here and it couldn't define Paula Atherton any better. We'll talk about one cool journey - on the road and off - and hear tracks from this hot-off-the-presses foray into fun, fired-up creativity and fierce playing! And we'll also discuss another element of her amazing life: playing with the all-female, "Jazz in Pink!"
Paula kicks off the show at 1 p.m. Eastern. www.paulaatherton.com
