Growing up in rural North Carolina, Dwight found music to be his refuge early. From Hendrix to Motown and who was on Stax - to Brubeck, Miles, and Trane - and his Dad's morning Gospel songs on AM Radio - Dwight absorbed ALL of it.
Fast forward to Houston, Texas - and a thriving music scene - the versatile Mr. Sills found himself on call for a variety of genres. He had already learned cello, drums and bass - finally settling on guitar - and he was serene in his knowledge that his passion and proficiency would take him on a pretty cool journey.
He was right. Dwight Sills has worked with some of the most amazing names in the business. We could do a shortened list of the alphabet: Anita Baker, Babyface, Brenda Russell, Everette Harp, George Duke, Kirk Whalum, Rick Braun, Richard Elliott, Russell Ferrante, TLC, Wayne Henderson and Wilton Felder. A small sampling!
Part rocker, part Jazz fusionist, with heavy doses of Soul and a love for the masters, Dwight Sills forged his path with a self-titled CD in 1990. Steady working ever since.
