Washington, D.C. based Earl Carter has been called talented, humble, and multi-faceted. But I'll thrown into the mix another adjective: courageous.
The self-taught guitarist, bassist and saxophonist graduated with honors - then moved into the corporate world, where he could have stayed and climbed to the top of the ladder. Rather, he got OFF the ladder (where his perch was lofty) - and bravely faced the world of full-time music. As anyone can tell you who has done this, it's scary!
But Earl wouldn't have had it any other way. Albums that have received accolades, performances with Bobby Lyle/Angela Bofill/Regina Belle/Pieces of a Dream/Spyro Gyra...a truly hot stretch with the Go Go band, EU, and music included in Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing" - yeah, Earl's done okay :-D OH, and he's a teacher, too!
Hah! Now, hand-picked by Sheik Al-Amoudi to play at his five-star Sheraton in Ethiopia, Earl is gone quite a bit - but is in town for a hot gig in Baltimore. Hence, his visit to the show on Thursday. Tune in, let the music wash over you and prep you for the holiday weekend. We like to call it "Carterization!"
Jere B stops by as well - and that means New Music! The fun starts at ONE p.m. Eastern time.
