Certainly, one of the more unique artists to ever grace ANY show that yours truly has hosted, Tony Bunn is more than meets the eye. And ear. Connoisseurs of Jazz will probably know that his name means Anything Bass - that he's a composer and producer. And that he has worked with Jean Carne, the legendary Sun Ra, and the two Chucks: Berry and Brown. But you may not know that Tony also developed - with friend and luthier Paul Reed Smith, what we know as the modern 5-string bass guitar. That was 1977. Or that he won an award from NASA for his contribution to the Terra Satellite System. We ain't talkin' a monetary donation! Tony is a dual Math and Computer Science degree graduate - and a rocket scientist as well as consummate bass man. Yes. And probably the most thrilling scenario for 2012 that we can conjure for this multi-faceted raconteur: he's a first-time Dad in his 50's. And we'll be talking to him from his new home outside of Copenhagen, Denmark, on the second day of being with his new daughter. This will be a very special interview with a beloved friend and great talent, as he tells us of plans for this year - with some of his other amazingly talent friends. Let's celebrate with Tony Bunn - let's celebrate Hybrid Jazz!
