Drummer and Vibraphonist Chuck Redd has been AT IT since 1980 - the year that he joined the Charlie Byrd Trio at age 21!  In that same year, he also found himself playing with "Great Guitars" (Barney Kessel, Charlie Byrd and Herb Ellis).  The work has truly not stopped for Chuck - his schedule via his website shows dates until 2013 - and it's no wonder.  The background for this Cool Cat is staggering: 13 tours in Europe, five in Japan; stints with Terry Gibbs, Dizzy Gillespie, Laurindo Almeida and Dr. Billy Taylor; vibes with the Mel Torme All Star Jazz Quintet; Artist-in-Residence at the Smithsonian Jazz Cafe in his "turf" - Washington, D.C. and on the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Music.  THIS, my friend, is only the tip of the iceberg!  Chuck will be playing Blues Alley the day of our interview, and looking forward to a Christmas Day Jazz Jam at the Kennedy Center...what an exciting life - and you'll hear about it on Thursday, December 15th.  As well, you'll hear three tracks from Chuck's CD, "The Common Thread."  Hang with us - it will be a holiday gift :)
