It's always an honor and pleasure to interview female artists who have made an impact on Jazz. My next guest has taken the word "impact" to a new level. Chris McNulty is not only revered in Jazz circles from Australia (her birthplace) to New York (her adopted home) - but her own amazing and film-worthy career is not the reason for her visit on 11/29/11. We'll be talking about her son. Sam McNulty - aka "Chap One" - was known as one of the true visionaries in hip hop circles. Certainly in New York, where his positive messages - combined with his charisma and ready smile - charmed even those who wouldn't have cared for the genre otherwise. It's what Sam created with his rap that made the difference...the Jazz influences of his Mom, the global music that shaped his consciousness as he traveled from one end of the world to the other, the streets of New York that rang in his ears - that he brought to life via music. We lost Sam in July - at age 30 - but you will understand why his spirit will live forever when you hear tracks from "Strange Frequencies." And you'll discover how you can help with getting the message to more people than possibly Sam ever dreamed. Join writer/producer/teacher/singer Chris McNulty and me for a true post-Thanksgiving session - about love, faith, and music that heals!
