Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey - with Greg Thompkins!

Saxophonist, Teacher, Producer - Gregory Thompkins is all of that and more - how much more is why we owe him thanks.  On October 16th, 2011, this talented award-winner will conduct an event that will musically empower Baltimore city schools.  It's called The Baltimore Jazz Education Project and you'll hear why an endeavor like this is so important!  Greg has been called "one of Baltimore's premier tenor saxophonists" by the Baltimore Sun.  But his reach goes far beyond the city.  He plays in three groups, including his own quartet.  He plays with the great Lafayette Gilcrist and The New Volcanoes.  His third band will be at the event on the 16th.  And what a cast of Jazz musicianship THAT is: Lafayette on keys, popular Amy Shook on bass, legendary Carl Filipiak on guitar and the dashing drummer Robert Shahid!  Collectively, the five piece unit is known as Jazz Explosion - and is may be what you hear on your laptop come Tuesday :)  Music at 2...interview with Greg at 3 p.m.  Join us for Jazz History 101 - the coolest school in town!
