A Bit of History: In today’s world there still exist corners (and, in certain cases, large pockets) which remain without enough coverage to unveil the workings, the culture and that which transpires in daily life; this includes the truth of the treatment of some groups of souls based upon religious beliefs, gender, geographic residence or upon ancient dictates of caste systems. It is our collective aim to unveil one area of this form of practice. Together we have chosen to shine the light upon the area in Southern India known as, Tamil Nadu, for the purpose of shifting our awareness that we may freely choose to open our hearts through love, compassion and hope to the souls of whom we speak. ***Please note: This blog is not meant as an indictment of India or its culture in any way, merely as a forum to allow others to shift their awareness and potentially to understand a part of a culture that is little known in other parts of this world.
In a large and over-populated area of South India known as Tamil Nadu, there remains a practice of establishing a distinct hierarchy of social strata based upon the caste system. This can also be referred to as jatise (pronounced jay-tee). The caste system results in segregation of beings based upon job availability and employment, lineage (genetic heritage), religious belief and more. The lowest members of the caste system of which we currently speak are oft considered to be “unworthy”, “impure”, “disposable” or even, “less than human”. They are known as “Dalits”. If you are a labeled as a “Dalit”, you are at high risk to be raped, murdered, or of having your home burned to the ground. “Dalits”, at least as far into the present as 2003, based upon the statistics garnered from an article run by National Geographic in June of that year, they report they have recorded that there are more than 160 million people considered “Untouchables” (another name for those labeled as “Dalit”).
“India's 'Untouchables' are relegated to the lowest jobs, and live in constant fear of being publicly humiliated, paraded naked, beaten, and raped with impunity by upper-caste Hindus seeking to keep them in their place. Merely walking through an upper-caste neighborhood is a life-threatening offense.
Nearly 90 percent of all the poor Indians and 95 percent of all the illiterate Indians are Dalits, according to figures presented at the International Dalit Conference that took place May 16 to 18 in Vancouver, Canada.” ~National Geographic Article June 2003 – If you wish to read this article in its entirety please click here: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2003/06/0602_030602_untouchables.html
The School and Its Mission: There is hope…there is always hope…and that is the focus upon which this light shines this day. Hope is being provided through the unconditional selfless love, compassion and tireless work of two soul-mates who joined together to co-create a school (which is intended to serve as a home as well) for the young girls of South India; Sri Devanayagi Parameswaran is one of the co-founders of the Mahavidya School for Girls.
Sri Devanayagi Parameswaran, originally from Holland and trained as an intensive care nurse, traveled to this area of South India and fell in love with these beautiful, radiant and loving children. She and her husband adopted one of these beautiful children as their own and are presently in the process of legally adopting twelve more!
The school that is very soon to open (July 2009) with Sri Devanayagi as co-founder is slightly different in nature and scope than the other, now rapidly dwindling in number, schools which were (and the few which still are) openly available to these little girls. This school, The Mahavidya School for Girls of South India, has a distinct focus upon feminine empowerment, education and improving/building strong self-esteem, providing a loving and safe home and environment for these children as well as providing cultural training in the rich and ancient traditions found in India today.
The children are our future, our hope, and it is up to us to ensure we are ready to help usher them into a new age which is ready for their brilliance and capacity to love unconditionally as has not been witnessed on this planet since time immemorial. This impressive and deeply moving endeavor (The Mahavidya Girls School), born of pure love, becomes just such a way to help us make that a reality for them…and for us.
These beautiful little girls who will attend the school when it opens in July 2009 have often been abandoned by their families - some simply because they were born female. These young “goddesses” were born into the caste structure where they are labeled as "Dalits" and are thus also considered and/or known as being “Untouchables”. This issue brings to the fore of awareness the imperative to help them find their power, their beauty, their divinity and to educate them so that these children will grow as empowered souls who may freely choose to generate a ripple of their own creation; designed from the depths of their great beauty and divinity all within the area in which they live. This act (the rippling out of a change in awareness with such empowerment) alone can create great shifts in awareness for others and aid in raising the vibration of that particular area of the world; it is the heartfelt belief that the re-establishment of the Divine Feminine Energies can help recreate balance. ***Please be aware that there are also young boys who attend the Mahavidya School.
“The Mahavidya Girls School intends to allow young girls to gain the tools and confidence to bless their families and communities with the Grace and Love of the Divine Mother, as Living Goddesses. For when a Mother is divine, the home is heaven. There they will receive an education that is nurturing for their body, mind and spirit. In addition to receiving a modern education, these young girls will receive an education in traditional Indian culture, so that these girls will be able to advance the future of their communities while still embracing the rich traditions of the past.” (Synopsis excerpt taken directly from: http://www.humanityhealing.org/mahavidya.htm )
The Mahavidya School for Girls of South India is located in Killankulam village, Periayur Taluk, Madurai District of Tamil Nadu, South India.
A Bit of Some of Indian Tradition and Belief and How it Relates to the School: The Mahavidya Girls School has derived its name from the Hindu traditional belief system of the mahavidyas who are known as the “Wisdom Goddesses”. (Maha means “great” and Vidya means “knowledge”). The focus of the mahavidyas is the assertion of femininity in Indian thought. These “Wisdom Goddesses”, numbered ten, represent the ten directions from which Paravati (Shiva’s lover) blocked his passage after an argument so he could not leave as was his intention; he was not listening to Paravati. She decided to split herself into these ten individual parts as separate goddesses each of who represent a part of what is deemed “the essential truths”. In taking this action (splitting herself into ten individual goddesses), Paravati ensured he (Shiva) was not only aware of the eternal love they shared but, most importantly, she established what is now the underpinning belief in India that the goddess (feminine) is a tremendous power, even greater in many ways than the god (male) in Hindu tradition. These ten goddesses ultimately represent spiritual enlightenment and the human desire to achieve their understanding thus acquiring “mahavidya” (great knowledge or wisdom) which is part of the path to self-actualization and realization.
The Mahavidya Girls School of South India Project and Humanity Healing: This project began with awareness coming to the co-founders of Humanity Healing (Liane Legey and Christopher B. Buck) of the tale of these “Little Goddesses” through a connection between Sri Devanayagi and Humanity Healing. Immediately a “spark” was born and thus a collaborative effort has now formed between the Humanity Healing Foundation and Network and the Mahavidya Girls School of South India.
It is the desire of HH to help open wide the proverbial doorways to encourage awareness of these children, hoping to help Sri Devanayagi in her tireless pursuit of bringing in the much needed funding to aid in actualization of providing an even better, loving environment for these little ones; giving them an opportunity to live a better life, wholly empowered and aware.
Humanity Healing Foundation and Network has committed to the task of helping to raise the required funds of $108,000.00 USD to fulfill the needs the Mahavidya Girls School of South India currently has. (Please note: There is a break-down of the total of the funds requested/needed - and the planned disbursement of said funds - available on Humanity Healing Foundation found at www.humanityhealing.org/mahavidya.htm or www.humanityhealing.net or under the project as it currently appears on their Community Network of http://humanityhealing.ning.com/groups/childrenofIndia ).
In the course of this process an out-pouring of loving souls committed to help the Mahavidya Girls School of South India meet their financial needs has formed on Humanity Healing’s Community Network which can be found at http://humanityhealing.ning.com/groups/childrenofIndia and also at http://humanityhealing.ning.com/groups/humanityhealingangels ).
The last of the two groups ("Humanity Healing Angels") is designated solely for members whose purpose is to work toward manifesting the needs of this project and has been formed as a “prosperity group”, meaning to call prosperity and abundance when needed to those who are without; in this case, presently, that is for “The Little Goddesses” of South India. ***The “Humanity Healing Angels” also work with other important projects for those whom are in need.
Zeta, a Humanity Healing Foundation Ambassador of the House of Compassion, is deeply and passionately committed to helping bring this project to fruition and has accomplished a great deal in terms of shifting awareness regarding this project. She has, through her own tireless dedicated efforts, brought this project to the fore of many minds and hearts. Zeta, through this raising of both awareness and funds to help resolve the needs of the school and those of these beautiful children, has proven to be a truly loving and dedicated soul for and to whom we are all most grateful.
Along with Zeta there are two equally passionately committed Celebrity Ambassadors who are focused upon this same goal of exposing the conditions these children face and to bring to them what they need. Through their own deep convictions and selfless loving commitments, actress/co-founder and yoga teacher of the "Healing Heart Yoga Center", Hudson Leick, and, Bollywood actress/supermodel and singer, Cleo Isaacs, are helping to ensure that “The Little Goddesses” shall have what they require. We thank them both deeply for their commitment, their compassion and their genuinely selfless loving natures.
You will find more information on Hudson Leick at: http://www.humanityhealing.org/Ambassadors/HudsonLeick/index.htm and www.HealingHeartYoga.com .

The Show: This evening’s show is based upon the deep desire for us to find unity in our humanity with harmony and without judgment, rather with open loving hearts. We hope you find yourselves as touched as each of us is by these children and the scope of this project. Please, if you feel so compelled or inspired, share this information with as many souls as you can and honestly believe will care and be touched in turn.
We at “H3” thank each of these amazing souls for being with us this evening and for all of you whom have chosen to listen, to participate, to share in our conversation which is really about lives – real lives – of children who need our collective help.
***Please do take the time to check out all the links provided above for they give so much more in depth information than can possibly be shared in its entirety here, in blog format. Each soul involved with this project is truly a committed, loving and compassionate being who, in their humbleness, wishes to maintain the focus upon this school, the girls, and upon the intention behind the project. For that reason, among many others, we here at “Humanity Healing Hour” are deeply grateful to each one and acknowledge their divinity and beauty even as we do each of the “Little Goddesses”.
Namaste and much Metta~
