What Say Ye America?

Do you have a family member or friend who is/has been incarcerated for a parking ticket or minor drug offense, locked in the system under another form of slavery? Then call and share your story and your outrage.

Join the Real World News Radio team this Tuesday evening for a passion-filled discussion "Prison for Profit." Our guest will be Vonya Quarles, founder of Shades of Afrika and co-owner of I.E. Shades of Afrika.

Ms. Quarles is a co-founder and Executive Director of Starting Over, Inc., an award winning transitional housing and reentry service provider.  A formerly incarcerated woman with too many loved ones in cages, Vonya helps provide platforms for community building and advocacy around incarceration and poverty issues.  Vonya was licensed to practice law in 2013. As a 3rd generation convicted person, today Vonya is a founding member of Riverside All of US or NONE and works with other formerly incarcerated people to address policies and systems that lend themselves to hyper incarceration, recidivism, and other inequities.  Ms. Quarles is a proud member of the following prestigious organizations:

*Women organizing for Justice Fellow 2011, *Women's Policy Institute Fellow 2012, *Kellogg's Foundation Fellow 2014-2017, *Racial Equity and Healing (National Cohort)

Join the Real World News Radio team and Ms. Vonya Quarles on “Prison for Profit”, on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at 5:00pm PST/8:00pm EST.
