Paolo Fanciulli took on Goliath and won.  His efforts have replenished the critical coastline around Tuscany of fish, underwater plantlife, and the marine ecosystem so the fishermen who make their living fish by fish and the world at large benefits from his efforts.

It started when Paolo would prevent industrial fishermen from net-dragging the coastline and destroying the delicate habitat.  20 kilometers of protected coast turned into 60 kilometers thanks to his efforts.  Over time the government, private people and organizations have contributed funding to help.

The fish have returned due to his ingenious solution that tore the industrial nets while keeping the coastline pristine.  Italian artists have jumped on board creating sculptures that you can scuba dive to enjoy for a unique underwater experience.

You can join Paolo for a day of fishing, then on the beach he'll cook what you caught for an unforgettable experience that will help you help Paolo keep the project moving and give you an opportunity to do something few people that have been to Italy have done.

In support of this truly ecofriendly tourism How to Tour Italy will donate $2.00 from every Italianati membership for the next 12 months to support Paolo's efforts.

You can learn more about donating and protecting the coastline at www.lacasadeipesci.org To enjoy a day of fishing and dining with Paolo visit www.paoloilpescatori.it

This is what Paolo calls pescaturismo and if we all help the coastline will be there for generations thanks to Paolo's heroic and valiant efforts.
