Trepid has been captivating audiences all over Northwest Louisiana, Southern Arkansas, Houston, Ft. Worth and Dallas Texas. Trepid melds the styles of Alice in Chains, Metallica, Kiss, Black Sabbath, Godsmack, Heart and Halestorm. Fronted by Lana Rothlisberger, Trepid brings a powerful in your face sound you have to hear to believe. Lana started out singing country music as a young child and is a defining sound original to Trepid. Brian Young is the classically trained guitarist who studied under Tony Bucci of The Lawrence Welk Show. David Gorman plays bass in the band. Brian and David have been friends since high school. Larry Blevins rounds out the line up handling the drum duties. Larry is a huge asset to Trepid as he stands in at six foot five inches! In August 2009, Trepid released its debut CD "Showdown at the Double D Ranch". "Showdown at the Double D Ranch" blends a huge love of all rock-n-roll music with the band members influences into an album full of thrills and surprises that will remind you of what's to come in our near future and what we lived through in the past. Trepid released their much anticipated sophomore release in January 2011 entitled "And They Call it Revolution". Songs off of Trepid’s second CD are consistently played on their local radio station’s 99X’s Homegrown Show. Released in November 2011 Trepid's "WTF" was in response to the hugley requested cover of Dolly Parton's "Jolene". WTF is an EP of their favorite and most requested cover songs. Trepid’s live show is a high energy event that will leave you begging for more and is not to be missed. 01:12:00HoustonUndergroundRadionoHouston Underground,Local Music,Trepid, rock,Hillary MarekTrepid has been captivating audiences all over Northwest Louisiana, Southern Arkansas, Houston, Ft. Since making a huge impact on the indie rock scene with their explosive 2008 debut Shield The Dilemma, one of Sacramento’s most popular and critically acclaimed bands has regularly blown audiences away with the passion of their live performances up and down the West Coast. Led by charismatic powerhouse lead singer and chief lyricist Jennifer Valdez—and diverse musical vibe fully embodies the metaphors of their classy and exotic moniker March into Paris. Less ambient, more structured and fully representative of the energy of their short but fiery 30 minute sets, MIP’s new seven track EP Beautiful Chaos perfectly captures what Valdez says “blood, sweat, tears and a few extra years will get you. It’s the debut of our new sound.” ?Driven by the combined and evolving musical visions of Valdez, guitarists (and founding members) Eric Davis and Randy Medeiros, bassist Kevin McCarty and drummer Kris Ayala, their dynamic, bold and diverse presentation is the group’s version of Paris – a place that represents a beacon of the greatest of human ideals and achievement. Just as the City of Light draws artists of all stripes who come to fulfill their dreams and be who they are. 02:01:00HoustonUndergroundRadionoHouston Underground,Hillary Marek,March Into Paris, local music, sopaSince making a huge impact on the indie rock scene with their explosive 2008 debut Shield The Dilemma, one of Sacramento’s most popular and critically acclaimeHUR: Travers La Ville livehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/houstonundergroundradio/2012/01/17/travers-la-villeRock Musichttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/houstonundergroundradio/2012/01/17/travers-la-ville/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/houstonundergroundradio/2012/01/17/travers-la-villeTue, 17 Jan 2012 01:30:00 GMTHUR: Travers La Ville liveMy story is really no different than a lot of musicians: boy decides to play music for a living; boy writes songs based on personal experience and or failings, boy puts instruments in hock to pay bills.  But, here’s a brief recap of the musical history of Travers La Ville for those who care. I’ve been a singer my whole life, at least what I remember of it. Mom plopped me down in front MTV straight out of the womb and made sure my first live music experience was Michael Jackson’s “Bad” tour. Soon after, I joined every school choir, church choir and garage band I came across. I guess you could say Mom was very intuitive. Anyway, the first time it mattered that I could sing was in 2003 when I was introduced to Ken Tondre (Kevin Fowler/ The Compound Recording Studio). With Ken I recorded my first ep “Farewell to Fairweather.” Funny story: Ken is also the reason I played my first SXSW set on ch. 16 Austin. One day a very talented keyboard player organizing a SXSW celebration for ch.16 stopped by The Compound while I was recording to ask Ken if he knew a couple of artist that could play on t.v. and not choke. Ken said, “Sure, I know a guy” and then points at a very green, very excited songwriter from Baytown, Texas who had never even seen the inside of a t.v. station – me. When the coast was clear, Ken turns to me and says, “Two words of advice kid: never say no to an opportunity and don’t suck.”  I then released and another ep in 2005 with producer John Glover and repeated the process for two more years before going on hiatus. Today, the same challenges lie ahead but the game plan is much simpler, “…never say no to an opportunity and DON’T SUCK.” 02:00:00HoustonUndergroundRadionoHouston Underground,Hillary Marek, local music,Travers La Ville, rockMy story is really no different than a lot of musicians: boy decides to play music for a living; boy writes songs based on personal experience and or failings,Happy Friday the 13th!! With knowledge gained through major exposure and hard lessons learned, the band is well-traveled and poised for success. Hard work pays off…and Dawn Over Zero is still here writing songs about it. The music is not just an aural experience, it’s a heartfelt journey. No one leaves their shows without hearing a song they relate to - just ask the many Dawn Over Zero fans. Guitarist, Steve Abbenante, brings a revitalized feel to the modern rock genre with riff-rich melodic hooks that sing as true and strongly as Mike Mears, the voice that powers the ‘DOZ’ engine. Jonathan Boyce (bass/vocals) and Mack Linan (drums) lay down an intelligent and unbreakable foundation that engages listeners whether they like it or not. Dawn Over Zero has earned the pleasure of being a John Lennon Songwriting Contest winner and having snowboarding pro, Shaun White, represent DOZ with song placement on his “Red Bull Project X” film. The group continues to gain international presence through a multitude of commercial media representation. In a sea of confused populations searching for the next big thing, Dawn Over Zero is the lighthouse steering you ashore. Established 2005, Wellborn Road has carved its name as one of the heavy weights in the Texas hard rock and metal scene.  The band formed in College Station TX, where they get their name, but has migrated back to Houston where all four members are from.  Guitarist Tyler Tracy enlisted the help of Scott Emanis on vocals, Dale Kahil on bass, and Robert Dickinson on drums to round out this Texas four peice.  Their debut album "Home" proved to be an uncompromised, raw, and unique record. Originally founded by Bryce Perkins and Clint Rater as nothing more than an idea in the summer of 2003, they have blossomed into a beautiful band since. With the addition of Matt Johnston on bass, and J.T. McCarthy on drums, the line-up was complete, for the time being. After recording their debut EP entitled "Orange", J.T. decided to leave the group for personal reasons, and was replaced on drums by Clint who at the time was the guitarist. To replace Clint on guitar, they recruited their old friend and musical companion, David Merriet. They have been in bliss ever since. They quickly got to work on material for their first full length album and within a year had the material ready and recorded. 'Summer Us' is to be their first full-length, self- released in the fall of 2010. Carrion Sun is back on HU Radio because we couldnt get enough. Ryan Ready was born into the world with two holes in his heart and a faulty pulmonary valve. His heart defects threatened to end his young life. At the tender age of 2, he spent almost 3 full months in the hospital and was bed stricken for months after his successful surgery. It was nothing short of a miracle that Ryan survived. Ryan first began singing on stage at the early age of 10 at Sunday church services. At the age of 16 and a sophomore in high school Ryan started a rock band with a few of his peers from his class. The unnamed band performed at the varsity football pep rally’s and his junior prom as well. At the age of 18, Ryan picked up the guitar (self taught) and began writing his own songs. He formed his first band at 19 and quickly made a name for himself as he played local bars and country club ballrooms in Pilot Point and surrounding areas. By the time Ryan reached 24 years of age he had played the honky tonk circuit across North Texas such places as Post Time, Fairfield’s, and Rodeo Exchange etc. But the multitude of what seemed like endless hours of stage time and performing cover music from Top 40 artist could’t feed Ryan’s hunger to become a seasoned songwriter and artist. Rolando said "Our music is real; it has it's good moments and it's bad. It's not always the same thing, and it's not always nice. This band is our attempt at emulating the universe with a spontaneous moment of creation..as in a BigBang." The bands live show is part improv and the rest is music that came from jam sessions that was kept and refined, still leaving room for new music, incense, dancing, guest musicians and some sort of interesting artistic visuals in each show. Ashes of a Martyr is a southeast Texas band in the metal-core genre. They are the illigitamate child of Lamb of God and Suicide Silence. One of the ingredients that AOM attributes their unique sound to is the members age gap. They have five members that grew up in three periods of music. Inspiration arises from Iron Maiden, Rush, Pantera, Prong, Whitechapel, and as I lay Dying. They have great success in Texas, opening for bands such as Saliva, Adelita's Way, and LSPS. They are five best friends that hope to one day call music not only their passion but their career. 01:55:00HoustonUndergroundRadionoDisfrutalo,Ashes of a Martyr, local music,Houston, undergroundDisfrutalo! Houston Underground had such a great time at the Acadia show this weekend we needed to have these guys on. Sometimes heavy, sometimes bluesy, sometimes mellow, these fun-loving musicians have a passion for art and music. Influenced by heavy-sloppy-bluesy-sappy-mellow-angry-grungy rock music, MindEnema recreates the successful sound of the 90's while adding enough originality to make their songs one-of-a-kind. Maybe it's the electric guitar riffs; maybe it's the bass grooves; maybe it's the solid drum beats or the haunting raspy vocals, but something about their songs makes you want to BANG YOUR HEAD! Singer/songwriter/guitarist and front-man Juan Villegas graduated from Sam Houston State University with a bachelor of Fine Arts. MindEnema's logo and other paintings are the work of his art. He currently lives in Houston, Texas and works for an art supply company. Drummer/backup vocalist Austin Rourke is a senior Biology major at Sam Houston State University. He is a self-taught drummer of five years whose passion for percussion stemmed from his childhood years of playing the piano. He currently works as a pharmacy technician near where he lives in Huntsville, Texas. Bassist Joe Baker is a teddy bear on the outside, but a furious musician on the inside! Joe has a passion for slapping and picking big metal strings. Challenging himself with complicated bass riffs, his style is the perfect fit for MindEnema. He currently serves the drinking needs of college students and cowboys alike at a local club in Huntsville, TX. From beyond the furthest place in the known universe comes the band that will make you rise faster than yeast, Cosmic Bug Loaf. "We need the human race to put these sound loafs in their ear ovens." You've never truly understood the phrase larger than life until you've met Michael Lee. The San Antonio-born, LA-based actor, Emmy-nominated television producer, singer, songwriter, director, ghost hunter and alleged vampire walks the walk in a whirl of outrageous clothes, chutzpah and a mischievous mirth not seen since the heyday of hair metal. Enamo...red with the glamour of big-time rock n roll, Lee lives the dream by staying true to himself, a throwback to the days when people made rock n roll music that they themselves liked instead of writing for a myopic commercial niche. Michael Lee fell in love with music early on, picking up a guitar at the age of eleven in imitation of the teen idols of the day. Initially finding the guitar challenging, Lee switched temporarily to the bass guitar until the flash of the six-string drew him back. By the age of 14 Lee was in the studio recording his first song. At the same time, Lee was bitten by the acting bug, appearing in his first movie – an independent western – at the age of eleven. Lee went on to study acting at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Lee lost touch with his guitar through his college years, in the process turning his prodigious artistic tendencies toward television production. Lee’s television credits include E! True Hollywood Story, NASCAR interviews, Super Bowl post-game wrap ups and in the process... two EMMY nominations. When you see Michael Lee on stage he looks like a throwback to another era of rock n roll. Part rebel; part glam rock demigod, Lee swaggers onto the stage with his Flying-V guitar and takes it for his own in the name of rock n roll. Lee writes music that pleases him, and in the process he reminds us all what rock n roll was meant to be. Michael Lee hopes to inspire a new rock revolution, one fan at a time. 02:01:00HoustonUndergroundRadionoMichael Lee,Houston, local music, emmy, nascarYou've never truly understood the phrase larger than life until you've met Michael Lee. Four hard working and highly talented musicians set forth with one basic goal…to raise the bar for what’s expected today in modern rock music. Throughout 2009 and 2010, Waking Alice began to develop a devoted following and make a name for themselves while opening up for several national acts such as: The Bravery, Divine Heresy, Fair to Midland, Spoonfed Tribe, and the Vanished. The diverse range in their music made it easy for them to be accepted both in the alternative and heavy metal scenes. Waking Alice takes pride in their musicianship, writing, and performances. Heavy guitars, dueling riffs and solos, melodic vocals, and a driving rhythm section make up the formula that is Waking Alice.Waking Alice was also nomminated for Metal Band of the year in the FW Weekly Music awards in 2011. After that we haveNathaniel Red, a simple yet smart guy with great music taste. Bit off more then he could chew one day when he decided DJing and Musical Production for a Career choice. This is the result of all he has accomplished. Wasted Youth is his projection towards life and music. He resides in Houston, Texas with a smirk on his face calling it simply the best place to live. He hopes to restore the Scene for the Future of EDM in Houston, and even the world.02:00:00HoustonUndergroundRadionopre thanksgiving party, wasted youth, walking alice, houston music, fort worth musicIn early 2009, the Texas based hard rock band Waking Alice began their journey into the world of rock music. After intensively writing 13 songs, poonblood was ready to slap the Houston music scene around some and drag it off into a dark corner somewhere. Unfortunately after their first show, circumstances in each of the founding members' lives prevented them from moving forward.
