They say Gout is a silent disease and I say Autism is a silent disorder. Where I am abreast of many subjects, autism is not one of them.  I fall very short as many of us do concerning Autism. I have only had an ideal about it by watching a couple of movie of the weeks when I was growing up in the seventies. Doug Flutie shined the biggest light ever publicly when his son was diagnosed with this spectrum disorder. But the spotlight has lowered these days since his major announcement followed by a string of commercials.  Jane Tipton has taken the torch to spotlight Autism in Long Beach.

A foundation she created for families living with the care of an autistic child. After being turn away from the mainstream communities, Autism in Long Beach was created to support other families affected by Autism. Autism in Long Beach is not about the disorder, it’s about support of the family and community teaching us all how to live without unaware opinions.

She began her group as a small facebook page of 25 families and now they’re over 2500. Her goal is to bring awareness, resources, and support for families on the spectrum. According to the CDCP Autism affects 1 in every 100 American child and these numbers are rapidly growing. There should be a steady direction toward support in awareness of this silent spectrum disorder. G.g. Listening Room is going to focus on the family with Jane Tipton and shed more light on Autism in Long Beach.
