At a young age he discovered his gift of story telling in rhymes. J-Mar started out in the group Northwest Heathens which was him and his cousin Youngin back in 2000. The group split when J-Mar and Youngin moved to different states. J-Mar spent time down south (Atlanta)and in the Midwest (St. Louis), where he grew as an artist and developed his style. His style consists of combinations of all aspects of places where he has lived, bringing you a mixture of the south, mid-west and the northwest. Over the years J-mar has grown to become one of the hottest MCs in the Northwest. J-Mar graduated from The Evergreen State College with degree in Marketing Music. After graduation he expressed interest in Du4Self Records and became co-owner. J-Mar’s first album is “GO GET IT”. The album “Go Get It” is not only a phrase that became the first single, it’s a way of life applied early in his childhood years from Spokane to Seattle. J-Mar encourages people from all walks of life to set goals, follow their dreams and go get it. “Go Get It” is a mindset of self determination, setting goals and not stopping until achieving satisfactory results. J-Mar has shared the stage with artists such as Method Man and Masta Killa of Wu-Tang Clan, Devin the Dude, Mike Jones, Spice One, Clipse, Former G-Unit Young Buck, 2 Live Crew, Bubba Sparks, E-40, Yukmouth, Tha Jacka, San Quin, MR.Fab, Turf Talk, Big Rich, Duna and J-Diggs from the Hyphy Movement. J-MAR is not your typical west coast rapper, he has a gutter sound that manifest a real life perspective of urban living in the Northwest. He represents the north side of the west coast to the fullest.
