Yvonne Ortega, speaker and author of Finding Hope for Your Journey through Breast Cancer,will interview Lt. Col. Cindy Davis, a ten-year metastatic breast cancer survivor. After Cindy graduated from Pennsylvania State University, she worked at John's Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore in the Oncology Center. After two years, she cross-trained as an operating room nurse. As an Air Force nurse, she held several positions and received the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Volunteer Service Medal, the Air Force Expeditionary Service Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal and National Defense Medal. Cindy was chosen as one of eight regional American Cancer Society Ambassadors to march with 10,000 other survivors in the Celebration on the Hill in Washington, DC on 9/20/2005 to raise awareness among Congressional members for sustaining and increasing breast cancer funding. She served as Sponsorship Chairwoman for the 2007 and 2008 York/Poquoson Relay for Life events and served in 2009 as Media chairwoman. She has personally raised more than $23,000 in five years working with Relay events in York County for awareness, advocacy and cancer research. She is a "Reach to Recovery" and an "I Can Cope" volunteer.
