After dropping out of school and spending time as a street busker, he became lead singer of the alternative rock band Strangelove, who were signed to Food, Parlophone/EMI. The band released three critically-acclaimed albums, Time For The Rest of Your Life, Love and Other Demons and Strangelove between 1991 and 1998About Sherri Lewis As Sherri Beachfront lead singer of the 80's pop group GET WET, Sherri performed on American Bandstand, Solid Gold, The Merv Griffin Show, and MTV. I got to do it all. I have been in recovery & living with HIV for 25 years as an activist, counselor, writer, public speaker & entertainer. Sherri Lewis had the time of her life in the 1980s. As Sherri "Beachfront," she was in a popular band called Get Wet, and had a cool bisexual boyfriend. Then, in 1987, she decided to settle down and get married. One of the things that she did before her wedding was get tested for HIV. A friend had died of AIDS and, although she had no reason to think she was positive, she thought it would be great to start her new marriage with a clean slate. Plus, she was looking forward to starting a family. To her astonishment, her HIV test came back positive. The diagnosis changed everything. Back then, if someone tested positive for HIV, "it was a death sentence," she says. Despite her fears that her fiancé would leave her at the altar, the marriage went on as planned.
