  Radical Unschooling with Author, Speaker, and Mother Dayna Martin

  Unschooling philosophy holds that children are natural learners, they learn all the time, and they learn most effectively through inner motivation. Unschooling children may use a variety of methods, including the use of conventional educational materials, to accomplish their learning goals. The key is that it is child-directed learning, or natural learning. The role of an unschooling parent is to support their children's interests, trust their children to make decisions for themselves, and help their children accomplish their goals, which may include answering questions, finding answers, giving instruction or guidance, and locating apprenticeship opportunities or other sources of knowledge and experience. "Radical Unschooling is an evolution of our understanding about learning and the rights and respect of children. We are on the cusp of change and many people are looking for alternatives to the traditional schooling model. With Unschooling, we are reprioritizing. We are taking back our freedom and putting happiness, connection and family first!" Dayna Martin. Dayna Martin, author of Radical Unschooling: A Revolution Has Begun, is a speaker and writer whose four children have never attended school. She founded Unschooling United, a non-profit organization dedicated to the radical unschooling movement, as well as the discussion group, Radical Unschooling with the Law of Attraction.   Homeschooling, Private School, Public School, One Mom's Experience with all Three and What Worked

  Homeschooling is a challenge of parenting that MANY parents willing choose for their children. We will hear from L. Janel Martin Miranda, M.A., a mother of four, a Birth Trauma and Attachment Therapist, a birth videographer, and film maker of "The Other Side of The Glass", a birth film for fathers. Janel has experiences all across the board with public school, private schools, and various homeschooling methods, including Waldorf. Janel's experiences will be able to provide those considering homeschooling with the insight needed to know what all three schooling options are like and what worked for her children and why. Choosing quality education for our children is not an easy task whether it is homeschooling, private schooling, or moving to where top ranking public schools are. All have their pros and cons, risks and benefits, and challenges. As a parent we must decide what we are willing to deal with and how much we want to put into our children's education ourselves. There are MANY homeschooling options for working parents, and Janel has experience with those as well.
