Introduction and The Question of Fellowship

The dominant view in evangelicalism is the "eternal security" doctrine, which states that if one is genuinely saved, he or she will never fall from salvation. The opposing 'Arminian' view is that a true believer may indeed renounce his or her salvation and return to an unsaved state.

While there are misunderstandings on both sides of the argument, and each side can learn from the other, the eternal security view depends on three assumptions that are not found in Scripture.  In part 1, we'll look at the issues surrounding the question and the first of the three assumptions, the question of "fellowship with God."
