The New York Islanders' goal going into Buffalo was a split of the first two games, and they accomplished that tonight in dramatic fashion. With Rick DiPietro back between the pipes, the Isles looked like a new team. The team was agressive right from the start and it showed on a Trent Hunter goal less than five minutes into the game on a deflection of a Mike Sillinger shot. They extended the lead on Bruno Gervais' first career NHL playoff goal. They went into the dressing room up 2-1 after 20 minutes. Despite Buffalo controlling the pace, the Isles survived the second period thanks to Rick DiPietro. It was in the third period, however, that the Isles gave up the equalizer. But on the power play it was Marc-Andre Bergeron who fired a rocket by Ryan Miller. The Isles stayed agressive despite the one goal lead and hung on to a big victory before going back to Long Island. It looks like this is going to be a series after all!
Remember to tune in to Hockey Night on Long Island on Sunday 4/15 at 3 PM EST. We will recap the big game 2 victory and look ahead to the rest of the series.
LETS GO ISLANDERS!
