Real good show today, everyone. I've been listening to the show for the past 7-8 shows and everything seems to be moving more smoothly with each show, making for better dialogue and higher quality show. Keep up the good work.

Chris Botta will join Alex and Steve to talk about everything surrounding the New York Islanders and continue to preview the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Mr. Botta is the former Public Relations President for the New York Islanders and now runs an independent blog covering the team. After just one year of blogging, his work is known around the league for being one of the first to break news regarding the Islanders and being one of the best hockey reads on the internet. On one March day, in fact, his blog received over 1 million hits! As always, listeners are encouraged to call in, IM us and participate in the HNLI Chat Room during the show.

Episode 10 of Hockey Night on Long Island was full of plenty of insight on both the 2006-2007 season and the upcoming offseason period. Guests Tom Masicioli and Carey Haber were extremely knowledgeable and shared their opinions on plenty of topics, including those brought up by our callers. At the end, Steve and I made our picks for the top 5 games of the 2006-2007 season, which is only available through the archived version. If you missed the episode or would like to hear it again, you can download it by clicking on archived segments on our homepage.
Our next episode will be on Saturday, May 5, at 3 PM EST.

While I unfortunately could not be with Steve for episode 9, I just finished listening to it and was very impressed with my brother Adam's job filling in as a co-host. Steve and Adam did a great job recapping the final two games of the series and answering the questions of several insightful callers. Big thanks to Adam for stepping in when I couldn't be there. Great job Steve and Adam.

The Islanders once again fell victim to the stupidity of the National Hockey League and its officials in game 4 of the series against Buffalo. With the score 3-2 with under two minutes remaining in the third period the Islanders were desperatley fighting for a goal. Some good work by the Yashin line lead to a scramble in front of the net. With the puck sitting loose between Ryan Miller's legs, Brendan Witt sped to the puck and knocked it into the goal. The Nasssau Coliseum crowd was on its feet as it appeared to be a tie game. Refferee Mike Leggo, however, had different thoughts completely. Leggo waived off the goal to the dismay of Islanders' fans. The call was reviewed in Toronto, but was supposedly left for Leggo to make the final decision. Leggo signaled no goal to the absolute shock of the hockey world. Once again, beer bottles fell from the upper levels to the ice of the Nassau Coliseum. Once again the Islanders got screwed over by the officials and the NHL review crew in Toronto. Leggo stated that it was not a goal because of goaltender interference. It wasn't until after the puck was in the net, however, that Miroslav Satan fell on top of Ryan Miller. Neither the NHL nor Leggo has yet admitted their mistakes, but it seems pretty obvious to me that somebody has it out for the Isles. Usually, I am the last one to be a conspiracy theorist, but time and time again this year the Islanders have been beaten on bad video reviews or on-ice-calls. Ted Nolan and the rest of the guys voiced their displeasure with the call in their post game press conferences. The NHL has not yet released any kind of statement about the call, but they had better own up to the blatant mistakes of their officials.

Hey all. Just wanted to let you all know that I, Alex, will be making a special guest appearance on the Buffalo Sports Stampede tonight. The show starts at 10 PM EST and I will be joining in at about 10:20.
For those of you who don't know, Buffalo Sports Stampede is another show on Blog Talk Radio that is all about Buffalo Sports. The host of the show, D.O., recently appeared on one of our episodes of Hockey Night on Long Island, and he has graciously invited me to return the favor. I urge you all to tune in and even call in to show some Islanders' support. You can find the call in number and the link to listen at the website below:
