When the Hornets signed Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to a four-year deal earlier this week, it was a recognition of his talent and what he does for the Hornets when he's on the floor, and what happens to them when he's off of it (spoiler: bad things and losses). The Hornets franchise has had a foundational player at the small forward position ever since the dominant front court of Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning left town. Easy to get away with patchwork small forwards when you had those two guys anchoring the middle.
Glen Rice, Jamal Mashburn, Gerald Wallace, and now Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who will make our all-time team at arguably the most dynamic and dominant position in today's game.
