The Cross of Christ

"For the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." 1 Cor. 1:18 and "But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God." 1 Cor. 1:23-24

    An Old Testament illustration -01

Let us first go to the Old Testament for an illustration which portrays the fact that the Holy Spirit works exclusively within the framework of the Cross, at least as it refers to Christians. Concerning the consecration of the Priests and the Sacrifice, the Bible says, "And he slew [it]; and Moses took of the blood of it, and put [it] upon the tip of Aaron's right ear, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot. And he brought Aaron's sons, and Moses put of the blood upon the tip of their right ear, and upon the thumbs of their right hands, and upon the great toes of their right feet: and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about (Lev. 8: 23-24). The Sacrifice being killed and the blood of the Sacrifice being applied as it was to Aaron and his sons, all who were Priests, signified the Cross and what Christ would do there in order to redeem fallen humanity.
