The Cross of Christ

"For the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." 1 Cor. 1:18 and "But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God." 1 Cor. 1:23-24

Spiritual Adultery in the Old Testament -05

The Holy Spirit through Paul said "For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present [you as] a chaste virgin to Christ." (II Cor. 11:2) The Godly jealousy that Paul speaks of refers to the jealousy of God (Ex. 20:5; 34:14; Nah. 1:2), not jealous at the Corinthians' affection for himself, but for their affection for Christ. Finally "that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ". Paul tells the Corinithians they must not commit spiritual adultery, which refers to trusting in things other than Christ and the Cross. Old Testament terminology is used in the Book of Revelation, despite the fact that it is in the New Testament. As John the Beloved saw this great Vision, he said, "And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication" (Rev.17:1-2).
