The Cross of Christ  

Christians who are placing their faith in themselves, are living in a state of "spiritual adultery," which means that the Holy Spirit is not going to help them in this capacity. The Holy Spirit is not going to help anyone remain in a state of spiritual adultery. He will help us get out of that state, but He will not help us while we are in that state. Actually, our efforts in this capacity constitute a gross insult to Christ. When we attempt to fight sin in our own strength, we are stating that what Christ did at the Cross was not enough, so we have to add our efforts to what He has already done. In closing, let me repeat this all important truth. The only way to overcome sin is for the Christian to place his Faith exclusively in Christ and what Christ has done for us at the Cross. We must fight to hold our Faith in that position which is the Cross of Christ. Then, to be sure, the Holy Spirit, Who is God and Who can do anything, will begin to greatly work on our behalf, thereby giving us the victory which He alone can give.
