The Cross of Christ

"For the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." 1 Cor. 1:18 and "But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God." 1 Cor. 1:23-24

The Cross of Christ and Sanctification -02

Do most Christians have a correct understanding of what the Holy Spirit through Paul is saying regarding the terms "walk after the flesh" and "walk after the Spirit"? (Romans 8:1, 8:4) It is my belief that most Christians do not know what "the flesh" actually means; while most all Christian Believers know some things about the Holy Spirit, most simply do not know how to "walk after the Spirit." On what do I base my belief? I base my belief on false teachings that I read and hear Christian leaders teaching, preaching, and writing about, most of which are about the Sanctification process. Consequently, we see the results of these false teachings manifest themselves in the "worldly", defeated lifestyles of Christians. There is nothing more important to the Child of God than how to live for God, which is what the Sanctification process is all about. Let us take a closer look at Romans 8:1. "[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Breaking down this verse, we see that the Holy Spirit through Paul says that there is no condemnation (guilt) to them which are in Christ Jesus (refers back to Romans 6: 3-5 and our being baptized into His Death, which speaks of the Crucifixion), who walk not after the flesh (dependent on one's own personal strength and ability or great religious efforts in order to overcome sin), but after the Spirit (the Holy Spirit works exclusively within the legal confines of the Finished Work of Christ; our Faith in that Finished Work, i.e., 'the Cross,' guarantees the help of the Holy Spirit, which guarantees Victory!
