The Cross of Christ

"For the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." 1 Cor. 1:18 and "But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God." 1 Cor. 1:23-24

    I've Been Through Enough

When I first began to walk with the Lord,
I did not really trust Him,
How He longed for me to understand that I could
So through the valley, He lead me, afraid as I could be,
Until I felt His loving arms, embracing me

I've been through enough to know, He'll be enough for me
He has come through so many times
That puts my mind at ease, for good
I'll stake my very life, that He's gonna take care of me,
Cause I've been through enough to know, He'll be enough for me

How could I ever doubt a God whose hands hold the universe,
Why would I ever question His ability,
There's no place that I can go, where He does not know,
    The things that trouble me
He's always aware of where I am and what I need

I believe Him now, after all these years,
He's been so faithful He's proven to be true,
Nevermore will I doubt or question why
Cause I've seen Him work before and I know what God can do

I have been through enough to know, He'll be enough for me
He has come through so many times
That puts my mind at ease, for good
I'll stake my very life that He's gonna take care of me,
Cause I've been through enough to know, He'll be enough for me

The Forgiveness of God/Oswald Chambers -04

Compared with the miracle of the forgiveness of sin, the experience of sanctification is small. Sanctification is simply the wonderful expression or evidence of the forgiveness of sins in a human life. But the thing that awakens the deepest fountain of gratitude in a human being is that God has forgiven his sin. Paul never got away from this. Once you realize all that it cost God to forgive you, you will be held as in a vise, constrained by the love of God.

From Oswald Chambers' book of daily devotions, My Utmost For His Highest.

The Forgiveness of God/Oswald Chambers -03

Forgiveness is the divine miracle of grace. The cost to God was the Cross of Christ. To forgive sin, while remaining a holy God, this price had to be paid. Never accept a view of the fatherhood of God if it blots out the atonement. The revealed truth of God is that without the atonement He cannot forgive— He would contradict His nature if He did. The only way we can be forgiven is by being brought back to God through the atonement of the Cross. God’s forgiveness is possible only in the supernatural realm.

The Forgiveness of God/Oswald Chambers -02

    Eph 1:7   In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Beware of the pleasant view of the fatherhood of God: God is so kind and loving that of course He will forgive us. That thought, based solely on emotion, cannot be found anywhere in the New Testament. The only basis on which God can forgive us is the tremendous tragedy of the Cross of Christ. To base our forgiveness on any other ground is unconscious blasphemy. The only ground on which God can forgive our sin and reinstate us to His favor is through the Cross of Christ. There is no other way! Forgiveness, which is so easy for us to accept, cost the agony at Calvary. We should never take the forgiveness of sin, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and our sanctification in simple faith, and then forget the enormous cost to God that made all of this ours.

The Forgiveness of God/Oswald Chambers -01

I have been blessed in the past by the writings of Oswald Chambers but prior to this morning, I had not read his daily devotions for years. This morning I felt lead to read what the Holy Spirit had given to him for November 20. As I stated previously, his insight into the Scriptures has always been a blessing to me and he did not fail me today. I feel lead to share with you his writing for today because it is further confirmation of my interpretation of what the Holy Spirit has been giving to me for the last 7 years both directly and via anointed men and women of God who teach and preach the Cross of Christ, the Atonement, and the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross. Chambers writes about the forgiveness aspect of the Cross. Oh, you say, we know all about the Cross and forgiveness. Yes? Not so fast. It is quite possible that we do not know as much about forgiveness and the Cross as God would have us know. The following 3 blog entries consist of a Scripture inspired by the Holy Spirit and written by Paul, and a short commentary written by Chambers. This Nov. 20 daily reading is an excerpt from the daily devotional, My Utmost For His Highest, written by Chambers many years ago and first published in 1927.

Enemies Of The Cross Of Christ -02

The Judaizers emphasized the Law and not the Cross of Christ. Unfortunately this sin (yes, sin. To reject the Cross of Christ is to reject Christ) did not die with the Judaizers. Anyone who makes something other than the Cross of Christ the Object of his Faith, can be concluded to be "an enemy of the Cross of Christ". All Salvation is found in the Cross; all Victory is found in the Cross; all Power is found in the Cross; all overcoming Glory is found in the Cross; all healing is found in the Cross; all Life is found in the Cross. Anything and everything that we receive from our Lord comes to us exclusively from Christ as the Source and the Cross as the means, with the Holy Spirit superintending all that is done. In conclusion, let me say it once more: If anyone rejects the Cross, they have, at the same time, rejected Christ!

Enemies Of The Cross Of Christ -01

Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an example. (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, [that they are] the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end [is] destruction, whose God [is their] belly, and [whose] glory [is] in their shame, who mind earthly things.) (Phil. 3: 17-19). Who is the Holy Spirit, through Paul referring to as "the enemies of the cross of Christ"? Whoever these individuals were, Paul concluded them to be "enemies of the cross of Christ". Notice that the Holy Spirit did not inspire Paul to say "enemies of Christ,"but rather "enemies of the cross of Christ". Paul was speaking of the Judaizers, whom he mentioned at the beginning of the Third Chapter of Philippians. The Judaizers were Jews who had accepted Christ as the Messiah, but who also insisted that all Believers, both Jews and Gentiles, had to keep the Law.
