what is a 360 deal?

 

Simply put, a "360 deal" in the music business refers to the recent twist in the contract due to a lack of  album sells. Record companies are no longer  giving out advances hoping to recoupe their monies on Album sells. Instead they are brokering deals with artists on a 360 degree all encompassing agreement  in terms of revenue streams. Live Nation's  high-profile 360 deals signings of Madonna and Jay-Z are suppose to be the ideal model of the programme but of coarse they both are unique hi profile cases.
