The Hip Hop National Radio Conference Call & Feedback Line is discussing How Do I Get Airplay & Why Do I Need It?

First and foremost do your research understand the stations format and  target market. Build relationships with the powers that be. Take no one for granted from the custodian, receptionist, sales team to the Music Directors and Program Director. Support the station and assure them that you will support your music, with a bonefide Marketing and Promotional campaign.

Typically it is harder to get airplay as an Indie on Commercial Radio but not impossible.  It is easier to get on college radio, internet radio stations and etc.  Gain a buzz with these entities first then your radio to travel will be a lot smoother.

The next question is why do you need it?  First of all the obvious you need airplay to reach a target audience that is more likely to listen and buy your type music. The average Label has spent A lot of time, effort and money into the release of the music. Getting a return on your investment is the very next step. This is where getting airplay comes into play. Airplay is the simplest way of reaching  the masses all at once. The more solid your fan base the more supporters you have  requesting your music. The easier it will be  for a station to want to help expose your music to a wider audience.

The Hip Hop National Radio & Feedback line is design to connect the Music Artist directly with the Music Industry.
