On July 1st a vast treasure was found inside the vaults of the Sri Padmanabha Swami Vishnu Temple making Padmanabha the richest deity in the world. Temple rep VK Harikumar said, "Precious materials including rare and valuable gems have been found in these chambers which are centuries old." Unofficial sources  pegged the jackpot at Rs 50,000 crore or approximately 500 billion rupees./As the official Amarnath Pilgramage season began, 2000 pilgrims had registered for the trek. However officials have been swamped as over 10,000 unregistered pilgrims a day arrived to register their participation in the anual pilgrimage to the sacred Shiva cave./Thousands of protesters marched in the capital Dhaka, Thursday against Bangladesh parliament's adoption of an Islamic constitution, steering away from a secular political culture, which was enshrined in 1972 constitution./While Hindus boast of an overall low divorce rate and the family structure is overall stable, all is not what it appears to be. While maintaining the image of the happy marriage, many Hindus are in fact suffering quietly trapped within abusive marriages. In the India of today, maintaining  the family reputation and the image of the happy marriage is more important than actually having a happy marriage.Hindu leaders have not developed an effective response to this crisis. Meanwhile India's media unleases a constant stream of lust-inducing fodder for the masses. While Hinduism marriage and family system is basically healthy a deep and disturbing undercurrent of denial and abuse is plauging Hindu society. It is being ignored by a majority of Hindu leaders as the Hindus themselves jacket themselves in denial and blame the laws of karma, ignoring the vital truth and the essence of a functional society-Satyam Eva Jayate!
