It's Your Privacy Topic for Today Is: Privacy Laws and Social Networks
Many folks believe that there are privacy laws on the books that protect them from intrusive web sites or others. That is not necessarily true. In the United States, there is no "right to privacy" as it is not a clearly definable right under the Constitution of the United States. Many would say there are not such rights when applied to the Internet. Few laws can be interpreted today as protecting information you give to social networks or other sites. In fact, laws that do protect your privacy refer to very specific types of information, including your medical or financial records. And realize that laws that do attempt to protect privacy rights do not necessarily extend to information searches on the Internet. This is scary stuff! And you won't want to miss this show if you're in the least bit concerned about what is, or isn't protected when it comes to your privacy on the Internet and with social networks.
