Recently, the US House of Representatives voted to prevent the Federal Communication Commissions's (FCC) new net neutrality rules from taking effect.

Folks who favor Net Neutrality claim that Internet Service Providers (ISP's) can impose a tiered service model in order to control the Internet pipeline they own and remove competition, create artificial scarcity, and oblige subscribers to buy their otherwise uncompetitive services.

Those that do not like the concept of Net Neutrality says that it is a solution in search of a problem. They maintain that broadband service providers have no plans to block content or degrade network performance. Opponents of net neutrality regulation also argue that the best solution to discrimination by broadband providers is to encourage greater competition among such providers, which is currently limited in many areas.
