    A Call to the Peoples of "Canada" and all Freedom Loving People

    For centuries, a predatory foreign power called the Crown of England has imposed itself on our peoples, raped and drained our lands of their vast wealth and vitality, conducted wars of aggression and genocide against our nations, murdered the innocent, and kept us in a state of colonial dependency and impoverishment.

    Canada has never known responsible government and sovereignty, ruled as it is from abroad by foreign empires and at home by unaccountable political, economic and religious oligarchies.

    The time has come to take back our country from the English Crown that claims ownership of all of Canada, and establish what has been attempted unsuccessfully twice in our history: a sovereign democratic republic in which all peoples may live in equality and prosperity, free of foreign domination.

    This is an invitation for you and your organization to take part in the formation of a movement to establish a federated Republic of Kanata, in which the crimes of the past and the present may be undone through a new political union of equality and independence between indigenous and settler nations.

    Background

    The original vision of such equality that was offered by the eastern Six Nations to arriving Europeans, known as the Two Road Wampum - in which both cultures would share the land and not seek to conquer or dominate the other - was cruelly subverted by the Crown, its ally the Catholic and Anglican churches, and foreign merchant companies. This unholy trinity of Crown, Church and Corporations imposed a murderous history of genocide, colonialism and apartheid across Canada whose legacy continues to the present day, including through their ongoing monopolization of the land and its economy.

    It is not possible to undo the legacy of that genocide within the very system that caused that enormous crime.

    Through the control of all lands and resources in Canada by the "Crown", and the reducing of Canadians to the status of landless subjects of a foreign power, under the legal authority of a single representative of the so-called Queen of England, we remain nothing more than modern day serfs in a neo-feudal society, and paupers in our own land.

    There remains no institutional remedy for such a condition of slavery, since every level of legal and political authority in Canada operates under an oath of loyalty to the very architect of our slavery, the Crown of England, including Members of Parliament, the government, the courts and the police.

    We have therefore come to recognize the need to reinvent Canada on every level, in order to renew and attain the original vision of an independent and self-governing Republic, free of foreign domination.

    In this pursuit, we declare as self-evident that humanity was placed here to care for, tend and share equally the earth and its resources. It is for this reason that the land as a whole and its wealth belongs equally to all the peoples of the earth, and of our own country, and must be held in common by the people as a sign that the Natural Law of equality and peace is honored.

    We declare as self-evident that only on the basis of such public and common ownership of the lands and its riches, and of the consequent wellbeing and happiness of all the people, can a strong and viable democracy arise and be secured.

    Since the present neo-feudal oligarchy known as Canada prevents such a natural and peaceful co-existence, we call upon all its people to join us in a new political and social movement to establish and maintain a federated Republic of Kanata.

    Formation and First Steps

    In the coming months, a provisional Council of Patriots will draft and circulate publicly a Founding Declaration, Constitution, and Statement of Principles and Program of a movement to create the Republic of Kanata.

    The Council of Patriots invites your participation in this work through the establishment of local Committees of Correspondence in your area to work on these draft statements.

    We welcome the widest debate and discourse on this matter, and urge you to join our many struggles for justice together into a single movement for freedom, independence and sovereignty in a new Kanata.

    By September of 2009, we anticipate the public declaration of a Republic of Kanata.

    Until then, we look forward to hearing from and working with you in this sacred task, to which we pledge our mutual lives and honor.
