    Dublin, Ireland Travel

Dublin, Ireland is one of the most interesting cities in Western Europe.  The long history from the days of the Vikings leading up to the Easter Rising in 1916 at the Oifig an Phoist which is Gaelic for 'post office'.  The General Post Office (GPO) was the site of the uprising where republican rebels lead by Padraig Pearse and James Connelly stood agains British forces to end British rule in Ireland.  The failed attempt and their execution at Kilmainhaim Gaol brought about an awakening in Dublin and lead to Irish Republican Army activity leading up to the signing of a treaty with Britian establishing the Republic of Ireland.  You can feel the history and hardship the city has felt just by strolling along the banks of the River Liffey, but you can also feel the joy that Dubliners feel being able to call themselves Dubliners.  Travelling in Dublin is easy and we have tips for you!  Stay tuned for our upcoming shows when we talk more about Dublin and Ireland's news!
