Sites of interest for your job search

I've just realized I started blogging after a few of my shows and I haven't listed the sites I've mentioned on-air.  So, I'm going to do that now.  I hope you find these sites helpful.

www.craigslist.com - To post your resume, (although I'd leave out your full name and address) or more importantly for job fairs in your area and for job postings.  You can also use it to post your services or products in your city.

www.salaryexpert.com or www.salary.com - For comparative salaries of positions within your specific city/state.

www.acinet.org (America's Career InfoNet) - National job postings and links.

www.rileyguide.com (The Riley Guide) - This has sites listed/linked with job listings, etc.

www.ajb.dni.us (America's Job Bank) - National job postings.

    www.manta.com - National job postings

www.bls.gov (Bureau of Labor Statistics) - Be careful with this site, amount of info. can be overwhelming.  Best to stick with the Kids section (which is actually quite helpful for everyone) and with getting specific job title and responsibility information, even salary info. but stay away from the statistics pages.  I got overloaded and depressed.  lol

www.siia.net (Software & Information Industry Association) - As an example of an Association's site or for those w/careers in the software (IT) industry.  Great for networking.

www.meetup.com - NOT a dating service.  lol  This is a site where you can meet up with like-minded people for fun or business in your area.  Great networking opportunities!

www.hayhouseradio.com (Hay House Radio) - Many hosts to choose from for positive direction and guidance in your every day life as well as during your job search.  Recommended hosts:  Cheryl Richardson, Michael Neill, Dr. Wayne Dyer, just to name a few.  Have fun and explore this site.

www.flylady.net (FLYLady) - Marla Cilley aka FLYLady (Finally Loving Yourself) offers tremendous emotional and practical support for managing your daily life including home, health, business, and family.  She also has a few shows here at BlogTalkRadio.  (www.blogtalkradio.com/flylady)

www.careersinwind.com (The American Wind Energy Association) - Another great example of an Association's web site with valuable information and job postings/fairs listed on it.

www.pg.com (Proctor & Gamble) - Great example of a manufacturer and distributor of a product you use every day to visit their site for national job openings.

www.nationalcareerfairs.com (National Career Fairs) - Great information on job fairs all over the United States.  Also has helpful advice for you about resumes, dress and interviews.  Doesn't list ALL job fairs just those of companies who have chosen to go through their organization, so don't forget your own city's resources.

www.helpmegethired.com - This is my business website (which I am updating this weekend), so if you want to reach me, you can email me through there.  If you decide you want me to help you with your resume and job search, you can find out my fees and services here as well.

www.twitter.com/lablady (Twitter) - About two weeks ago, I started Twittering.  Still getting the hang of it and it's kind of fun.  Trying to balance personal and business info. on it and I usually post sites I'm perusing or radio shows I'm listening to, like FLYLady or Alan Levy or HayHouseRadio.

Ok, that's it!  I don't think I missed any site I mentioned on-air.  I've gone through all of my notes.

Wishing you a brighter future, as always,

    Lisa
