Ask for Help the Right Way

Asking for help isn’t always easy. Care should be taken to ask the right person, or forum, in the right way, and at the right time to get the help you want. Identify if the person or forum you are asking has the expertise to provide the best answers for you.

Be sure to ask for specific items of help, one or two and not a truckload. Clarify the end result you are trying to achieve, and phrase your question to include the end result you seek. Ask yourself: “I want to help to achieve WHAT? by WHEN? so that I will be better off in WHAT WAY? You might provide just enough of a background to clarify further, if your listener asks for clarification. Again, they need just enough background to understand the context of your question. The listener might get lost if too many details are provided.

Try that next time, and let us know if this helps.
