Our host, Sharon Beth interviews Judith Brown who is a 40-something woman who has had it! Several years ago she decided to take charge of her own life by leaving a well-paid administrative position to take care of her ailing father. It was a no-brainer. Answering phones, taking care of the boss AND watching his kids AND dog was bad enough…but on the very day she had to clean the dog’s butt (bulldogs can’t clean themselves) – she knew her days with that ad agency were numbered. With no formal college education and no savings, she resorted to something she long had a passion – and a talent for – writing. She enrolled in a correspondence course, learned ‘on the fly’ while working full-time and taking care of her father part-time – for several months until she bagged a national health care publication as her first client. Soon thereafter, she was interviewing entertainers; serving as publicist for one of the nation’s oldest jazz organizations; and writing books for clients. By year’s end she will release, “You Can Become a Freelance Writer in 59 Days (or Less!), a how-to book based on her own experiences as a struggling – and now successful – business woman. Yes, she’s a go-getter.
