This long-time member of JAH Roots, Heartical writes and sings his own lyrics and songs. He can also plays a heavy bassline, a hard hitting Reggae guitar and he produces his own Dub as well in his Home Studio. Heartical is an early member of JAH Roots (est. 1987), the "House Band" of the Dubroom. In the late 1980's, he teamed up with Messian Dread and others to develop themselves in playing Reggae and DUB and continues to produce until this day (2008). His talents as a graphic artist show, and not just in the excellent Cover Art which he made single-handedly, but also in the deep, deep DUB of his second album.
Heartical is a bass player, guitar player, graphic artist and singer/songwriter. His long-time membership of the Original JAH Roots Band (founded 1987), a thing which he shares with Messian Dread, provided him with the necessary experience to develop his truly very personal style of DUB.
His originality already came to the surface in his début album "Operation Emancipation", but in Dub Remnant it even shows more. Heartical has added a deep, deep, almost industrial vibe by applying an unusual and intelligent way of drum programming as well as making an excessive use of synthesizers on top of a bass that goes deeper than the deepest ocean.
Altogether, the 15 tracks that make up this second album paint a perfect picture of a Conscious Man's experience as he is watching the coming downfall of Babylon. The only spoken words on the album, provided by Zeph Daniel, express this very same experience you find on each and every one of the tracks.
It's all about a combination of heavyweight realization of the evil that is going on, kinda scary sometimes, and a determination to leave outa Babylon and move forward to Mount Zion. The remnant might be a small group, the DUB Remnant might be an even smaller group, but the Drum and Bass will guide you safe through all the trials and tribulations.
