    Infant Eczema

Many parents of new born babies are frightened when they realize that their child has infant eczema. Truth be told, infant eczema is probably scarier looking than it really is. Still, the site of the rash can be a little unsettling – no parent wants their child to have infant
    eczema!

Since infants do not possess the motor skills yet, you will not have to worry as much about them scratching their eczema. Infant eczema is very irritating and you will hear about through long episodes of crying!

No one really knows the reason why infant eczema occurs in some babies while in others it does not. However, you should know that eczema appears in roughly 20% of the world’s population, so it is defiantly not a rare condition.

Although the exact cause for infant eczema is not known, it is believed that genes have a major role to play in the condition. Your baby is twice as likely to suffer from infant
eczema if one of the parents has the condition.

How do you know if your child has infant eczema? Some of the most obvious indicators are the red patches of dry looking skin, similar to a diaper rash. As the skin becomes more irritated it will become more read and may develop into a more serious looking rash
than other parts of the body.

The best thing to do is to moisturize the skin but be careful not to rub too hard or you will irritate your infant’s eczema. Most importantly, do not become overly concerned as infant eczema is more common than you think.
