This month on Animal Matters, Healer Gabriela Castillo (www.gabrielacastillo.com) & Christianna Capra will be talking with both Darla Rewer DVM and James Pendergast from Darwins Natural Pet Products (http://www.darwinspet.com/why-feed-darwins/) about our animal companion's nutritional needs and how it affects their overall health and quality of life. James has been making and feeding his dogs raw foods for over 19 years, with a passion for optimal nutrition, mimicking the ancestral diet of dogs. James is currently involved in product development for a leading national manufacture of fresh frozen raw diets. He works closely with renowned animal nutritionists and holistic verterineaians to develop nutritionally complete and balanced meals for pets. Dr. Darla Rewers wanted to be a veterinarian since the age of five. Always an empath, natural healer, and visionary artist, Darla wanted to give a voice to the animals and be their advocate in the most gentle, heart-centered, true-feeling way. Her interest in shamanism, plant medicines, and diverse healing forms from all over the globe since an extremely early age led her to combine her passions into opening Ancient Arts Healing Arts Center for pets and people. There is a very tangible link between the symptoms we see in animals and the people they live with. Dr. Rewers treats the animals, and helps their caretakers bring awareness to their part in the wellness. Darla teaches Qi Gong and art meditation to the humans to help them help their pets. A licensed veterinarian in Florida, California, and Washington, Dr. Rewers has been certified in veterinary acupuncture and practicing alternative therapies on domestic and exotic species since 2002. She has been doing house calls and office visits in the Greater Puget Sound Area since 2005. Ancient Arts Veterinary Acupuncture Services found a new office in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle in September 2008.
