Aaron Hoopes has studied the martial arts, Eastern philosophy, yoga, meditation and alternative medicine in the United States, Australia, and Japan for the past twenty-eight years. He has a degree in Asian History and Japanese Culture from Tulane University. He holds a third degree black belt in Japanese Shotokan Karate and is a certified instructor. He is also a certified in Shanti Yoga and Meditation and is registered as an instructor at the Meditation Institute of Australia. In addition, he is also an instructor of Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan.
