In the year 2003, Joe Budden released his debut solo studio album, Joe Budden. It included Budden's 2003 summer hit "Pump It Up", which featured Liam Kantwill, and was also featured in the soundtrack for the movie 2 Fast 2 Furious video game Def Jam Vendetta. The song "Focus" was also featured in the game and Joe Budden was also a character. Its second single was "Fire" featuring Busta Rhymes. The song "Drop Drop" was featured on the soundtrack for the movie Cradle 2 the Grave. The album debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 charts and gave Budden his only top 10 single, "Pump It Up". In 2004, Budden began work on his second album, titled The Growth. However, it suffered numerous delays, leading fans to speculate that the album was in some sort of development hell, though he and Def Jam, denied this.
