Friends, Romans, countrymen, the day of reckoning is upon us. In twelve short days, voters across this great land will make the trek to their local polling place to cast their vote for President of the United States. If you pay attention to the mainstream media (the drive-bys as the great El Rushbo calls them), the election is over. Obama has won. Recent polls have tightened, but still show Obama in the lead, albeit within the margin of error in most cases. Get ready for your taxes to go up, your gun licenses to be revoked, and your wealth to be spread around.
Not so fast, my friend....
Have you looked at the sampling of any of the polls? In some of the shadier polls, upwards of 30% more Democrats are being polled than Republicans. With margins like that, I'd expect Obama to be winning in a landslide, but that's not the case. The Dems are scrambling. They are rushing to protect the traditionally blue states, and none of them are acting in manner indicative of a party of the brink of certain victory.
Perhaps they are beginning to realize that Supreme Chancellor Barack Obama will not become the nation's first black president after all. (For the record, my money is on Michael Steele for that one.) Perhaps they are regretting allowing Joe Biden on the ticket as the VP nominee. I'm completely convinced that every one of them squirms when Biden opens his mouth. I know I would. I can't recall a VP candidate guaranteeing a major international crisis to test the mettle of his running mate. That wasn't even the best part. Not only did he promise a crisis, he guaranteed that they would handle it incorrectly and need the blind support of their faithful followers. God bless you, Joe Biden, please keep talking! At least until November 5th.
When all is said and done, I'm sure the Dems will cry foul. They'll invoke the Bradley Effect and the accusations of racism will fly. They'll have to look inward though, as it will be "racist" Dems that costs Barry O the election, as Republicans, racist or not, weren't going to vote for him anyway. Chew on that, John Murtha.
Kerry was leading Bush by 11% at this point in '04. Gore led Bush as well. Carter even led Reagan at this point in 1980, and Reagan won in a landslide. I don't think McCain will win in a landslide, but I do feel that his margin of victory will be larger than expected. My prediction: McCain 290, Obama 248. I'm being a little generous, I know, but I had to give Obama something. Seriously, I may be a little overly optimistic about the states McCain will carry, but I do think he'll win comfortably. The question is, will Obama lose graciously?
A funny side note: in professional wrestling, a wrestler whose job is to lose matches to the more popular characters is called a "jobber." In the 80s and early 90s, the WWE (then known as the WWF) had a jobber named "Barry O." I watched a lot of wrestling when I was young, and I never saw Barry O. win a match. Could it be that the Democratic Party offered up their own jobber named Barry O. as a sacrificial lamb of sorts? Despite the long and sordid history of the Democrats ties to racism (the filibuster of the Civil Rights Act led by Al Gore's father, Sen. Byrd's ties to the KKK, George Wallace, Lester Maddox, etc.), they are bent on painting the GOP as the party of racism. One has to imagine that it's possible that the history revisionist Dems would nominate an African candidate that they know can't win just to be the first major party to nominate an African man. Then, when he loses the election, they can create enough backlash for the next four years that the door would be open for the Dems to gain the sympathy vote and allow Hillary to waltz into the Oval Office.
I could be wrong, but it's just crazy enough to make sense..... for them anyway. Keep in mind, we're talking about the party ran by Nazi Pelosi, Chris Dodd, Harry Reid, Bawney Fwank, and all the rest that I'm forgetting. Oh, and yeah, I referred to the Anointed One repeatedly as African. Not African American or black, but African. And I shall continue to refer to him as African until he produces an original birth certificate proving his nationality.
