Dorothy endured emotional and financial challenges in her fifties, brought on by a devastating divorce at a time when most people are planning to retire, and fully enjoy life; to survive she began singing on State street and Michigan Ave. in Chicago.  Dorothy decided to sing Tina Turner’s music after numerous years of family and friends telling her that she looked like Tina Turner.  Finding favor with Chicago audiences, she flourished, found her niche and became so beloved by the huge crowds that gathered on the streets to see and greet her every summer.  She now speaks candidly about her experiences.  It was her faith and strong roots in the church that made it very natural for her to share her inspirational and empowering story with each new audience.  Dorothy’s story encourages everyone, but women specifically, not to take abuse of any kind.  She shares the magic and power of faith and self-love that helped her to not only survive but thrive.  She emphasizes the importance of not allowing age to be the reason to make you stay in an unproductive and unhealthy relationship.  She is a living testimony to show that you can survive emotional and financial setbacks or hardships.  Dorothy fully believes everyone is born with special hidden gifts, talents and abilities that might not come to the surface until you get knocked so far down and have to find a way up.
