Unconditional love. Forgiveness. There's nothing we can do that would make God turn from us, not forgive us and not love us.
Forgiveness - the most incredible gift God can give, and one of the easiest to take for granted. Do we truly grieve over our sins as we should?
Today's verse we focus is on is in Ezra so you know we're about to get serious!
5 Then, at the evening sacrifice, I rose from my self-abasement, with my tunic and cloak torn, and fell on my knees with my hands spread out to the Lord my God and prayed:
“I am too ashamed and disgraced, my God, to lift up my face to you, because our sins are higher than our heads and our guilt has reached to the heavens.7 From the days of our ancestors until now, our guilt has been great. Because of our sins, we and our kings and our priests have been subjected to the sword and captivity, to pillage and humiliation at the hand of foreign kings, as it is today.
Ezra showed a sincere and powerful reverence, humility and remorse for his sin. We don't have to do this. We're already forgiven. But if we are tempted to take sin lightly, perhaps its more a revelation of how we feel about God, our love for Him and how or if we actually revere Him. Something important to think about, eh?
