Christians worldwide have just finished celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Yet many Christians don’t completely understand the purpose of His first coming. Most church-going Christians are able to quickly provide stock answers to questions relating to the purpose of his birth, murder and resurrection, but few understand the nature of the underlying battle that has been waged and continues to grow in intensity. A battle in which we are to be engaged as warriors and not mere spectators. However, we are neither alone nor ill equipped for this battle, yet many Christians don’t understand their roles.

As stated in the Holy Bible, “He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8 [KJV]. Clearly, Jesus came to redeem mankind and destroy sin, the act of sinning, and take back our legal birthright lost by the sin of Adam. But the battle did not stop there. The battle between good and evil continues to rage, and Christians are called upon to be Ambassadors for his Kingdom and warriors against the wiles of Satan and his earthly and spiritual minions.

We can take from this that we, as Christians, have work to do. It is required of us, but we are not without the means, which is the Word of God and both our shield and our sword. It is our role, by the delegated authority of Jesus Christ and the power of God, to fight against the powers of sin and darkness, the wicked and evil ways of this earth… like it or not.
