The Southwest DeKalb High School music program is nationally and recognized for having one of the best music programs in the nation, which stresses excellence in discipline, education, and style! The Southwest DeKalb Mighty Panthers marching band has made many appearances over the years, including the 1996 Olympic Games opening ceremonies, The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, the Carnival of Flowers in Nice, France, the 2002 Bands of America Grand National Championship in Indianapolis, IN, the 2006 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA, numerous Atlanta Falcons halftime shows, the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies halftime show, and the Salute to America Parade in Atlanta, GA. If this band and the events aforementioned don't ring a bell, then you may remember them as the fictional A&T Band in the movie Drumline, starring Nick Cannon and Zoe Saldana. Yeah, these kids are HOT!
